Love Beyond Borders

You may not be here because we chose the path less travelled,

But I see you in every spot – from our home to the car and pretty much everywhere I go.

My fingers trace the cold empty space you used to warm in my sheets,

As my mind drifts off to the places you and I used to roam.

I walk to my garden and dwell in a quiet day dream,

I recall when you gently grasped me from behind

You held me and you ardently said,

“I love you baby, please never worry… you’re always on my mind.”

Each night I lay against the shirt you last wore

I don’t even want to wash it, since it covers your used pillow

Because everyday I cling to it, I pray in tears,

“Dear Lord, please comfort my heart that feels barren and hollow.

My love is far and our passion may sometimes get weak

But in You we trust, and Your blessings we always seek.”

Though countries may be in between our hopes and dreams

And seeing each other requires airplanes, visas, and delays we cannot see.

We patiently wait for the moment to hold each other again for real,

As we cope with poor network connections and the 12hrs time difference we have to deal.

As long as we keep our faith burning deep within,

Added with forgiveness, honesty, respect, and kindness,

We will grow from each other’s strengths,

And endure one another’s weaknesses;

The love that God brought us together will mature and succeed,

That no amount of lost time, loneliness, and boundaries could divide you and me.
