Try Again

Many times we give up after trying something just once. We let the challenge or the struggle that barricades the beauty of the opportunities that would have brought us success, if we had carried on. I was in a women’s meeting on Tuesday and the part of the speaker’s message that stuck with me is when she mentioned that  “we need to be aware of when we need to try things again”.  Whether it is try to love again, breathe again, have fun again; apply for that job again, be yourself again, and so on. The list can go as long as you want it to be. The fact is there are times when we are so eager about the ending that we forget to participate in the journey there. We forget to do the little things that makes this journey, life, worth our while.

Try to love again

  • We cannot allow other people’s choices or actions determine how we move forward. Bad experiences did not get their name for no reason. I know it is easier said than done, to move on after a bad relationship without a badge of bitterness and scorn. It takes a brave person to move on and even more brave one to move on positively and be willing to try again.  A lot of us have spent time with bad company. We have dated someone we thought was who we wanted and ended up finding out the opposite. The beauty of life’s obstacles is their ability to leave us stronger and better if we so choose. Once you are healed, ready, and open to love again, be sure to try again. Try with confidence and faith.

Try to breathe again

  • I don’t mean breathe as if taking breaths in through your nose and out of your mouth. I mean relax. Put your hair down, kick your feet up with a cup of tea in your hand on your couch and just breathe. Life is busy. We get so busy we sometimes forget to wind down and take time to notice that we are still breathing. I am guilty of that. I am so use to being busy, I sometimes have trouble figuring out what to do when I do have some free time. Countless times others have told me that I need to relax. I never knew what they mean. Do I look tense? Am I holding my breath? Did I stop blinking? So, my goal is to try to breath again. To make time to sit on my couch with a cup of tea in my hand with my feet up. What do you need to take a breather from? Working year round? Stressing over everything? Whatever it may be, figure it and try again.

Try to have fun again

  • Believe it or not, there are people who will reply, “what fun”, when people ask them, “when was the last time you had some fun”.  I don’t mean partying and drinking or anything of that sort. I mean clean, enjoyable, laughable fun. The kind of fun that have you feeling good the next morning. Like a house warming party with friends and relatives, a baseball game, family game night, whatever it is that you do that makes you smile your best smile and brings warmth to your heart. I encourage you to discover things that bring out your best smile and warm your heart. Try these things again and make time for them.

Try to be yourself again

  • It is easy to get lost in moments or seasons in our lives and forget who we are. We let go of ourselves and stop doing the things that make us who we are. You are beautiful, smart, and being you is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. If you feel as if you have either been someone else or let yourself go, take a breather and try being you again. This time do it for real. I know it did not happen that one day, but one day I looked at myself in the mirror and I genuinely smiled at the woman in the mirror and told her I love her. That was one of the most fulfilling moments of my life. I found out that I love being me.  It is easier and better that way. Find yourself and try being that person again.

In the middle of all that is going on, it is easy to forget that we need to take time to keep trying, to breathe, to have fun, to love and be loved, and most importantly to always be ourselves.

I am a 26 year-old educator on the run of becoming all that I can in the time that I have. A few years ago, I embarked on a journey filled with spiritual discoveries, healthy habits, and a passion for education stronger than I've ever had. Learning what to do to become a better person have always interest me. One of my passions is to know a little about everything in order to gain the capability of forming my own opinion so others won't have to do it for me. Another passion that was buried deep inside finally came to the surface and allowed me to see the adventurous side of me. I am on a journey to see the world and do things outside of my comfort zone. I will write all about it along the way!

I agree with Breathe Again as I have learned to stop, get off the wheel and breathe!

If we do not try again, we have totally given up on everything that we’ve worked hard towards. Just imagine where this nation or world would be if people constantly stopped at defeat.

I love how you outlined that there will be and are times when we become so anxious to reach our goals, etc. that we forget to enjoy those special ‘in-between’ moments. Yes, the things that ultimately define and make the journey and life worth while.

    Awesome!

    Happy Saturday!

Thank you for reading Yulunda! You are absolutely right, trying again is something we need to be mindful of and not afraid to do.
